I learned this aloo achar recipe from my Mother in Law. This is one of the mandatory Holi recipes in our house. The freshly harvested potatoes of February March add the distinct texture to the achar.
This is one of the easiest dishes to make. The total time taken is 15 – 20 minutes if you ignore the boiling the potato part. So here we go..
Ingredients
- Potatoes (Aloo) – ½ kg (small and boiled)
- Roasted coriander seeds – 1 tbsp
- Black mustard powder – 1 tbsp
- a big pinch of Methi powder
- Salt to taste
- Red chili powder to taste
- Mustard oil – 1 tbsp
Method
Cut boiled potatoes into two pieces.
Roasted coriander seeds and grind in a mixer.
In a big bowl add potatoes, roasted coriander powder, black mustard powder, red chili powder, salt, meethi powder and mustard oil. Mix well.
Keep this in the sun for 2 hours.
After that refrigerate.
Serving
Serve with Roti White rice, khichdi and Puri.
Aloo Ka Achar
Ingredients
- ½ kilo Potatoes (small and boiled)
- 1 tbsp Roasted coriander seeds
- 1 tbsp Black mustard powder
- ¼ tsp Methi powder (just about a pinch is enough)
- Salt to taste
- Red chili powder to taste
- 1 tbsp Mustard oil
Instructions
- Cut boiled potatoes into two pieces.
- Roasted coriander seeds and grind in a mixer.
- In a big bowl add potatoes, roasted coriander powder, black mustard powder, red chili powder, salt, meethi powder and mustard oil. Mix well.
- Keep this in the sun for 2 hours.
- Keep for refrigeration.
Notes
Serve with Roti White rice, khichdi and Puri.
