Can anything other than toast/sandwich be prepared out of white bread slices?
– How about a dessert?
That was the surprise my father got when he asked my mom that question.
My mom gave a sweet smile and said lets have that dessert in the evening. I cannot explain my father’s reaction when he tried it.
Many childhood memories freshen up when I was make this dish.
So heres the step by step recipe for bread ka halwa. People also call it Bread ka Sheera. Bread ka Halwa is dish is also incredibly famous in Indian Hyderabadi cuisine. This halwa can be made either in white or brown bread depending on your taste or your choice.
You could call it bread pudding, but a true European bread pudding would mean sweet sauces rather than the Ghee we Indians use.
It is unique extremely easy-to-make takes about 30min and I treat this as a fix to my sweet cravings.
You could adjust the sweetness with sugar or experiment with other dry fruits to give it a taste that is uniquely yours.
