Ingredients
- Bread slices – 4
- Gram flour – 1 cup
- Garlic powder or garlic paste – 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon
- Salt to taste
- Leftover potato mash(Aloo ka bharta)
- Green chutney
- Parmesan Cheese powder
- Oil for deep frying
- Water (as needed for batter)
Instructions
- In a bowl, prepare the batter by mixing gram flour, turmeric powder, garlic powder and salt. Gradually add water and combine all the ingredients well and gram flour batter is ready. Let it sit for 20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, cut each bread slice into 4 equal pieces using a sharp knife. keep aside.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
- While the oil is heating, take two bread slices and place on cutting board. Take the Green chutney and apply on it. Now take 1/2 teaspoon cheese powder and sprinkle on bread.
- Take 1 teaspoon potato mash and spread it on the bread evenly. Again sprinkle cheese powder on top. Cover this potato stuffed slice with another slice. Gently press the bread together. Likewise, prepare all bread slices.
- Now dip the bread into gram flour batter, make sure the batter coats the bread evenly on all sides.
- By now, your oil is hot, deep fry into oil for two minutes on both the sides until golden brown. Fry 2-3 pakoras at a time, depending on the size of your frying pan. Take it out on kitchen towel to drain off excess oil. Repeat the process until all the pakoras are made.
- Serve the hot and crispy bread pakoras with mint chutney, tamarind chutney, or ketchup.
