Ingredients
- Lal Saag/Cholye/Red Spinach – 2 bunches
- Soaked Bengal Gram (Lal Chana) – 2 tablespoons
- Chopped garlic – 1/2 tablespoon
- Dry Red Chili – 1
- Salt to taste
- Mustard oil – 1/2 tablespoon
Method
- Gently separate the Lal Saag/Cholye/Red Spinach/Amarnath from the roots, discarding any damaged or yellow leaves.
- Wash the Lal Saag/Cholye/Red Spinach/Amarnath thoroughly. Repeat the process until the water has turned clear.
- Heat mustard oil in a pan. Add chopped garlic and dry red chili and sauté till the garlic turns light brown. Add lal saag, salt and bengal grams.
- Mix and cover the pan and simmer for 10-15 minutes until the saag is fully cooked. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking to the bottom.Once the saag is cooked (make sure there are no liquids in the pan). Turn off the flame.
- Serve with hot white rice.
