How to make Methi Fish Curry ?

Ingredients

  • Fish – 4 Pieces
  • Onion – ½ big
  • Garlic – 1 tbsp chopped
  • Garlic paste – ½ tsp
  • Green chilies – 2 finely chopped
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  • Mustard oil or any other oil for fish frying
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Water – ½ cup
  • Methi seeds – a big pinch
  • Meat masala – 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
  • Red Chilies powder - 1/2 tbsp as per your taste
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh chopped coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions

  • Clean and cut the fish.
  • Add turmeric powder, chilies powder, Garlic paste and salt over the fish pieces and mix well. Set aside for 10 minutes.

  • Heat a deep frying pan on medium heat.
  • Half Fry the all pieces of fish in oil in this heated pan. Note: half fry only on both sides of the fish pieces. Once these are half-fried, keep them aside.
  • Remove any remaining oil from the pan.
  • In the same frying pan add fresh oil and big pinch of Methi ( Fenugreek ) seeds. Saute on medium heat until the spluttering stop.
  • Add the chopped onion and chopped garlic till light brown
  • add half done fish (from Step 4) and stir 2 minutes.

  • Add red chili powder, salt, chopped green chilies and meat masala. Stir and mix well. Fry this spice mixture until the oil begins to separate. Add lemon juice and cook for 2 minutes.

  • Add water. Bring to boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer. Cook for another 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Turn off the heat garnish with fresh, chopped coriander leaves.
  • Serve with Paratha or Roti.
